I am also here today to introduce my new Barlow:
Meade Series 5000 2x Ultra Telextender
I arrived this morning! I purchased this model because reading the reviews, or more generally what is being said around me seemed a good model, judge for yourself:
"The brand new 5000 Series TeleXtenders are considered the best among the currently teleconverters on the market. Thanks to 4-unit building, they have a visual field plan, and provide maximum resolution across the visual field that is at the center to the sides. Their performance surpasses even that of the 2x apochromatic Barlow lenses. The multi-layer Lens makes them free of any chromatic aberration. They are ideal for short focal length refractor with ep er observation of planetary details.
- Field of View Flat
- Optical Premium Work and treated individually allow maximum light transmission and a high resolution and higher contrast
- The sides of the lens and the metal parts are blackened to maximize the contrast
- Despite the proliferation of 'magnification can maintain an excellent black eye relief, even if used with eyepieces with longer focal lengths. "
The impression just opened the box (well done, too), was" solid " and good construction, in fact the least touch barlow looks solid and well built, I expect the smaller, but I was just surprised by his "tonnage." Now I'm waiting just a good time to go try it on the field, then will update the 'article with the visual impression of the bar low!
UPDATE:
Tonight I did the test on the field of barlow Meade, (unfortunately too high because the moon on the horizon and the presence of clouds, the test was short) and I must say that I was fully satisfied! In fact, even with a 25mm focal length eyepiece magnification of the difference is obvious compared to observation without barlow; past to an eyepiece of 10mm focal length the greater surprise was, in fact I noticed that even if the image was significantly larger (I could easily see even those small "mountains" in the center of the craters, which only dreamed of without the use of barlow) compared to observation without barlow, the quality is not totally changed! The contrast is sharp, and the image has no aberrations of any kind, even when I used the eyepiece 9mm focal length, thus arriving at well-222x (my telescope is a 114 opening ...) in an evening with just seeing a suboptimal judgments ... You!
